Miami-based painter and mixed-media artist, Michelle Rusinek, finds herself drawn to the tactile qualities of paint and collage as well as the textures, colors, and shapes found in nature. During her painting process, the artist layers various types of paint with paper, cloth, and tape, and contrasts her explosive layers of color with negative or white space. Rusinek considers this negative space to represent mental discipline and boundaries that she chooses to set in order to create “room to breathe” in her work.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Michelle Rusinek received her BFA from the University of Michigan Penny Stamps School of Art and Design in 2016 and has studied at The Art Students League of New York. Her work has been shown in various group shows at Christie’s and The Art Students League of New York and published in Hel[icon] Literary Mag. Most recently, Michelle showed her work at Superfine Miami Art Fair in February 2023 during Art Wynwood.
